Where Love Builds Forever Families.

We Will Help You Every Step of the Adoption Process

If you are pregnant and considering adoption, you may be wondering how the process works  and it’s natural to feel overwhelmed. Please know, you are not alone. At Private Child Adoption Agency, we are here for you every step of the way, offering compassionate, confidential guidance and support 24/7. Our caring adoption coordinators will walk you through each part of the process, helping you understand your options and make the decisions that feel right for you and your baby. Below is a simple overview of the steps in the birth mother adoption process. When you’re ready, reach out to us  we’ll be here to listen, answer your questions, and guide you with understanding and respect.

Step 1: Private Child Adoption Agency

Whether you’ve already chosen adoption or are still exploring your options, reaching out is the first step.
You can request a free adoption information packet to learn more about the process and the support available to you. When you’re ready, call or text us anytime at 815-307-5837. Our compassionate adoption coordinators are here to answer your questions, explain your options, and help you make the decision that feels right for you and your baby — with no pressure and complete confidentiality.

Step 2: Create an Adoption Plan

We will work closely with you to create a personalized adoption plan that honors your wishes and needs.
You have the freedom to choose the type of adoption that feels right for you  whether open, semi-open, or closed and decide how much contact you’d like to maintain with the adoptive parents and your baby. Our role is to support your choices every step of the way.

Step 3: Choose an Adoptive Family

The next step in the birth mother adoption process is exploring our adoptive family profiles.
You’ll have the opportunity to review detailed profiles of loving, pre-screened families who are ready to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home for your baby. Once you’ve chosen a family, we’ll help arrange the first connection  whether by phone, email, or text  based entirely on the level of contact you feel comfortable with.

Step 4: Social Worker or Attorney Meeting

This meeting is an important opportunity to share your needs, wishes, and preferences with the social worker or adoption attorney.
It’s also your chance to ask questions and gain a clear understanding of the legal aspects of adoption. We will arrange this meeting for you completely free of charge, ensuring you feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way.

Step 5: Place Your Baby

After your baby is born, you can choose how you’d like those first moments to be.
You may spend time with your baby, the adoptive family, and/or a counselor whatever feels right for you. Once you’re ready, your baby will go directly home from the hospital with the adoptive family you’ve chosen. There will be no intermediate foster care, ensuring a smooth and loving transition.

Step 6: Documentation

Shortly after the baby is born, you will sign the legal documents consenting to the adoption of the baby. The exact timeframe and documents needed depend on the laws in your state.

Step 7: After the Adoption

After the adoption is complete, the level of contact you’ll have with your baby and the adoptive family will depend on the type of adoption you’ve chosen.
Every birth mother’s post-adoption journey is unique, and it’s normal to experience a range of emotions both joyful and challenging as you adjust. We encourage you to create a personalized post-adoption plan to help you move forward with purpose and support. This might include returning to school or work, joining an adoption support group, or focusing on personal goals. Your attorney or social worker will work alongside you to develop a plan that meets your needs and ensures you have the emotional and practical support you deserve after the adoption.
